Product detailed description
Israel #2 Match-Worn Shirt – EURO 1996 Qualifier (Israel vs. Slovakia, 1994)
A fantastic vintage rarity from the nineties with a direct link to the early days of the Slovak national team! We are offering for sale an original player-spec shirt of the Israel national team from the mid-1990s by the iconic Italian brand Diadora. This light blue shirt with the number 2 is tied to a historic qualifying match for EURO 1996: Israel vs. Slovakia (2:1), played on 12 October 1994 at the stadium in Ramat Gan.
Michal Hipp started this hard-fought away game in the Slovak back line and played the full 90 minutes. He obtained this shirt after the final whistle through the classic swap with an opponent (the number 2 in the Israeli defence at that time was traditionally worn by the right back, e.g. Felix Halfon). This makes it a tangible piece of history from the very first qualifying campaigns of independent Slovakia.
Shirt specifications:
- Team: Israel (historic IFA – Israel Football Association crest embroidered on the chest)
- Brand: Diadora – player specification with the classic nineties retro collar and snap-button fastening.
- Material and design: Typical glossy period fabric. The white panels on the shoulders and sleeves feature a geometric pattern woven into the fabric (the iconic Diadora template from 1993–1995).
- Print: The classic massive number 2 on the back in a shaded 3D block, applied in that era with thick paint.
- Size: XL (period, looser cut)
Condition: Match-worn but washed. (For its age the shirt is in outstanding vintage condition, clean and free of any serious damage, ready for the display case.)
A huge opportunity for collectors of nineties shirts, the Diadora brand, and anyone who remembers Slovakia's first steps as a national team. Match-worn shirts this old appear on the market only on the rarest occasions.
